Thrower Totem

Throwers unlock at TH16, and Totems are what stop them being shot on the way in.

TH16Ground
Three stars TH16, TH17 and TH182 Town Halls above its own

Throwers are the reason TH16 plays differently from TH15. They out range almost every defence and they shoot over walls, so the pack never has to walk into the thing that is killing it. What they cannot do is survive being focused, which is where the Totems come in: three of them dropped in front of the pack pull defensive fire onto a stack of hitpoints instead. Four Furnaces keep producing blockers behind, so the Throwers are still standing when the core opens.

How to run it

  1. 1Clear one side with the Super Wall Breakers and the Rocket Balloons so the pack has a wall to shoot over rather than walk around.
  2. 2Walk the Queen in behind the Healers on that side and Recall her once the first Scattershot is down.
  3. 3Deploy all eight Throwers in a line along the wall, never in a clump, with the Furnaces just behind them.
  4. 4Drop the castle Totems one at a time on whichever compartment is doing the damage, not on the pack itself.
  5. 5Fireball the compartment ahead of the Throwers, and send the Dragon Duke to clean the far side.

What beats it. Open bases with nothing for the Throwers to shoot over turn them into slow Archers, and the Scattershots reach them in the gap. Take the Ruin Witches against a wide base.

The other TH16 armies

Same camp space, different answer. Thrower Totem is the one to drop when the base suits it, not the only one worth learning.

If this army keeps failing, check the account

Thrower Totem assumes the hero equipment listed above and a lab that has kept up. If yours has not, the army is not the reason the attack is falling short. Paste your tag into the reviewer and it will tell you what to upgrade first.
